The sympathy of the congregation is extended to the family of Bill Riggs at the death of his sister, Dorothy Galloway of Greenville NC. 

Stephan McCutchan retired in 2006 having spent 23 years at Highland Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem. Since retirement, he has focused on writing (10 books including his latest, a mystery: A Star and a Tear,, and exploring ways to support other clergy. He served for three months at Reidsville First Presbyterian during Doug’s sabbatical. 

ELDER ON CALL: Each week an Elder will be available for congregational needs during Doug’s absence. This week that Elder is Mary Fagan.

PENNIES FOR HUNGER will be received today.

BARIUM SPRINGS HOME FOR CHILDREN OFFERING will be received today. If you would like to make a donation, please make your check out to Barium Springs Home for Children.

HYMNBOOKS: We have orders for 165 hymnbooks now! Today is your last chance to help us finish this campaign. A total of 254 hymnbooks are needed. Please place your check in the offering plate and indicate “hymnbook” in the memo. Thanks! Your Worship Committee

SESSION will not have the regularly scheduled meeting in December, but there will be a brief called Session meeting today following worship service.

OUR CHRISTMAS PAGEANT will be held on Sunday, December 22 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. We will have a Live Nativity that will be set up near the picnic shelter with the choir leading Christmas caroling  and refreshments of cookies and hot chocolate served in the picnic shelter. We need volunteers. The children will practice during regularly scheduled Sunday School starting on December 1. It is important that all children attend. We need for everyone to participate. SKI TRIP TO WINTERGREEN: Our church ski trip is planned for Wintergreen Resort in Virginia, about a 2 and 1/2 hour drive.  The dates are Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Wednesday, Jan. 22.  These are Teacher Workdays so students will be out-of-school.  The cost is $151 per person and includes ski rental for 2 days, skiing 2 days and 1 night accommodations with breakfast at a motel near Waynesboro, VA.  Beginning skiers will have a 1 hour lesson taught by our advanced skiers. In order to get this group rate we must have a minimum of 20 skiers.  Please get a $50 per person deposit to the church office no later than Dec. 15th as we have to make reservations.

2013 PREBYTERIAN GIVING CATALOG has arrived. If you would like to have one, they are located in the Narthex and on the table in the North Parlor.

PLEDGE FORMS are available on the table in the narthex, or you may call the church office if you need one. Thank you.

PARKING LOT FUND: The Session on Wednesday, Sept. 26 voted to proceed with a complete renovation and resurfacing of the parking lot and to appeal to the members for donations in lieu of liquidating stocks and other assets of the church. You are encouraged to make contributions to the fund as soon as you can. On your check, please indicate in the memo section: “Parking Lot Fund.”
