First Presbyterian Scholarships

Through the generosity of several current and former members, First Presbyterian is proud to offer 6 scholarships to members of the Reidsville and/or Presbyterian community. They are:

  • The Charlie W. Adams, II Memorial Scholarship

    • The recipient must be a current or former student of Reidsville High School and/or Rockingham County High School.

    • The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

    • The recipient must be planning to attend a community college or technical school.

  • The Robin Whitley/Robin Elizabeth Hooper Memorial Scholarship

    • The recipient must be a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Reidsville, NC

    • Award will be based on academic record, extra-curricular and church activities, and general quality of the applicant.

    • One or two awards will be given according to the annual revenue from the scholarship fund and the qualifications of the applicants.

  • The Wilmer Walker Memorial Scholarship

    • The recipient must be a current or former student of Reidsville High School and/or Rockingham County High School.

    • The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

    • The recipient must demonstrate scholastic aptitude.

    • The recipient must be planning to attend a community college or another institution of higher education.

  • The Heffner Family Memorial Scholarship (Aleene, Robert, Fred, George), 1

    • The recipient must be a current or former student of Reidsville High School and/or Rockingham County High School.

    • The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

    • The recipient must demonstrate scholastic aptitude.

    • The recipient must be planning to attend a community college or another institution of higher education.

  • The Heffner Family Memorial Scholarship (Aleene, Robert, Fred, George), 2

    • Recipient must be an active church member of the Presbyterian community – with membership at either First Church, Speedwell, Wentworth, Smyrna or Greenwood.

    • The recipient must demonstrate financial need or scholastic aptitude.

    • The recipient must be planning to attend a community college or another institution of higher education.

  • The Charles Jackson Harrill Memorial Scholarship

    • The recipient must be an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Reidsville, NC for at least two years and participate in its youth program.

    • The recipient must have earned a minimum high school GPA of 3.0.

    • The recipient must demonstrate current activity in one or more community based organizations (i.e., hospital, rescue squad, food bank) for at least two years.

    • The recipient must possess outstanding moral character as judged by the church’s scholarship committee.

    • The recipient must use these funds toward a degree at an accredited two-or four-year institution of higher education.
