Modern Worship

9:30 AM on the Second and Fourth Sundays in the Fellowship Hall

Presbyterians are typically known for very traditional styles of worship, without much changing in people’s lifespans - organ, hymnal, confession of sins, affirmation of faith, that sort of thing. Our modern worship service takes components of that “traditional” worship and makes it new. Rather than a confession that the congregation reads together, we’ll do a song or maybe read a poem. Instead of hymnals, our band plays contemporary praise music blended with traditional hymns. Instead of suits and ties, the vibe is relaxed - you’re invited to sit around a table instead of a pew and even welcome to drink your coffee and eat breakfast at the table. If you grew up Presbyterian it might feel very different, but what stays the same is our commitment to radical welcome, love, and thoughtful preaching wedded to scripture.

Kids are welcome in the service as they are welcome to everything we do at FPC. A space is set aside especially for kids to play, or they’re welcome to hang out with their parents. They might even be invited to play with the band!

“In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth praying, ‘Come, Lord Jesus.’”
